Great Purpose

A small Catholic university in a warm Southern town becomes the unexpected stage for something extraordinary: a story of spiritual visions, loss and triumph, faith and miracles

Great Purpose follows Jack Ronan, a gifted college football player at Our Lady’s University near Savannah. Shaped by mysterious experiences he cannot fully explain, he struggles to find his true calling, even as his team rises against the odds. Along the way, Jack meets Sarah, a young Jewish woman searching for meaning, and a special circle of friends, all drawn into questions of faith, purpose, and what it costs to carry something larger than oneself. The novel explores the boundary between the ordinary and the miraculous, and the tension between personal ambition and surrender.

This is a story of athletic glory, inspired faith, a search for truth, and what miracles mean in our modern world. For fans of inspirational fiction, Great Purpose is a riveting tale of the power of religious faith in a world spinning into chaos.

A short commercial for Great Purpose, the novel by Timothy T. Sullivan

  • "A book that made me reconnect with my faith... This is an amazing book!! It is so uplifting in a world with so much doubt! I picked it up mainly because of the football story line (I’m a girl who loves college football) and it’s set in Savannah my home town, BUT it’s so much more. I was down on my faith before I read this book ."

    —Terri Davis

  • "These are characters you love from the start. It’s a story of faith, teamwork, and pure love. Wrapped in a football season. I will be thinking about the message and the story often."

    —P. Brannigan

  • "Great Purpose inspires you. I loved the book. Tim's writing brings you into both the story and the characters... Tim uses subtle humor as you enjoy the football issues that arise during the college years. You will really like the major characters you come to know in this book. You just want to keep reading!"

    —C. Fisher

  • "Great Purpose is exactly that! A clear reminder of what is important. The personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This author's book does an excellent job of reminding and highlighting struggles fellow believers have. The journey is worth it."

Seeing the Crooked Lines

A struggling Catholic church in rural Georgia becomes the site of a miracle: a weeping statue of Mary in the chapel

Father Karl Becker investigates reports of a strange sight: a Marian shrine in a chapel at Saint Teresa’s Catholic Church that weeps during evening adoration of the Eucharist. Pilgrims are flocking in to witness the miracle, and the faith of a dying parish has been renewed. Becker desperately wants to verify the miracle and see the divine at work in the world, while furthering his own ambitions in the Church.

But all is not as it appears. Becker must root out the truth, and in the process, confront his own sense of faith — and learn how providence actually works, despite the weaknesses of humanity.

This is a prequel to Great Purpose, to be published in November 2026!

Sarah, Ellie, Mike, Liam and Father Becker gather in the old chapel at Our Lady’s University once again to decide what to do. Can they help the girl who has been affected by the miracle in ways she never wanted? How can they protect the truth of the miracle from those who want to discredit it, or exploit it for their own purposes?

And will Jack remain in seclusion, or rejoin The Group to help?
